Jumbo Ice Cream Figure Review: ME02 Phantasmal Flames Edition Details

When a collectible figure manages to blend whimsy with striking visual design, it earns a special place on the shelf. The Jumbo Ice Cream figure from the ME02: Phantasmal Flames set is exactly that kind of piece. It takes a playful dessert theme and infuses it with the fiery, spectral energy of the Phantasmal Flames card art, creating a display piece that stands out in any collection.

In this review, we’ll dive into the details that make this figure a must-have for fans of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and collectors of quirky, high-quality figures. From the sculpt and paint application to its presence on a shelf, we’ll cover everything you need to know before adding this sweet treat to your cart.

A Sweet Concept with a Fiery Twist

The Jumbo Ice Cream figure draws direct inspiration from the popular Toxtricity card in the ME02: Phantasmal Flames expansion. The card’s vibrant colors and dynamic pose are translated into a three-dimensional figure that captures the essence of the Pokémon’s rock-star vibe. The figure features Toxtricity in a playful ice cream cone form, complete with a dripping swirl that mimics the card’s energetic aura.

What makes this edition special is the attention to the Phantasmal Flames theme. The base is designed to look like a cracked, volcanic rock, with translucent orange and purple accents that evoke the ghostly flames of the set. This isn’t just a static figure; it’s a miniature diorama that tells a story, making it a standout piece for both gameplay fans and display collectors.

• Design inspired by the Toxtricity card from ME02: Phantasmal Flames
• Translucent flame effects on the base add depth and visual interest
• Compact size fits well on desks, shelves, or in glass displays

Sculpt and Build Quality

The sculpt of the Jumbo Ice Cream figure is surprisingly detailed for its size. The ice cream swirl has distinct ridges and grooves that catch the light, mimicking the texture of soft serve. Toxtricity’s head and arms are molded with sharp, clean lines, and the facial expression is a perfect mix of cool and mischievous, just like the card art.

The figure is made from high-quality PVC, which gives it a sturdy feel without being overly heavy. The base is solid and weighted, so the figure stands securely without wobbling. The paint application is where this figure truly shines—the transition from the creamy white of the ice cream to the purple and blue tones of Toxtricity is smooth, and the glossy finish on the flames adds a nice contrast to the matte body.

• High-quality PVC construction ensures durability
• Smooth paint transitions with minimal overspray
• Weighted base prevents tipping, even on uneven surfaces

Paint and Color Accuracy

One of the most critical aspects of any collectible figure is how well the paint matches the source material. In this case, the Jumbo Ice Cream figure nails the color palette of the Phantasmal Flames Toxtricity card. The vibrant purples, blues, and oranges are all present, and the shading on the ice cream swirl gives it a realistic, almost edible appearance.

For collectors who enjoy customizing or touching up their figures, the paint job provides a great base. The colors are opaque enough that you could easily add your own details, like a gloss coat for extra shine or a matte finish to reduce glare. If you’re into painting, you might even consider using a product like the AK11076 Gen-3 Pastel Peach 17ml to add subtle highlights to the ice cream swirl, giving it a softer, more pastel look.

• Accurate color matching to the original card art
• Opaque base colors allow for easy customization
• Glossy and matte finishes are used strategically to enhance detail

Display and Compatibility

The Jumbo Ice Cream figure is designed to be a centerpiece, but it also works well in a larger collection. Its size is comparable to other jumbo figures, making it a noticeable addition without taking up too much shelf space. The base’s rocky texture and flame effects pair nicely with other Phantasmal Flames merchandise, and it looks great next to other Pokémon figures or even in a themed display with trading cards.

If you’re a fan of pairing figures with painted backdrops, the translucent flames on the base can be enhanced with a bit of creative lighting. Placing a small LED light behind the figure can make the flames glow, adding a dynamic element to your display. For those who like to keep their figures in pristine condition, the figure comes in a clear, windowed box that is perfect for displaying without removing it from the packaging.

• Compatible with other jumbo-sized figures and card displays
• Windowed box allows for display while keeping the figure protected
• Translucent parts react well to LED lighting for dynamic effects

Value for Collectors

When considering a collectible figure, value is often about more than just the price tag. The Jumbo Ice Cream figure offers a unique blend of nostalgia, playfulness, and quality that justifies its place in any collection. It’s a conversation starter, a piece of art, and a tribute to one of the most popular cards in the Phantasmal Flames set.

For collectors who are also hobbyists, this figure pairs well with painting and customization projects.
